    NARCISSUS, Canaliculatus Canaliculatis is a lovely, dainty daffodil that reaches a height of no more than 6-8 inches and can be shorter. It is said to be hardy in Zones 8-9, but I grow it in Zone 4 after planting it 6-8 inches deep. Each flower stem can contain up to 7 blossoms. The blossoms remind me of a bulbocodium hoop petticoat surrounded by large, white petals. Each blossom is no more than 2 inches in diameter. The blossoms produce a sweet scent – nowhere near as strong as Albus Plenus Odoratus. It shows best when planted in drifts of 25 bulbs or more.     SCILLA, Litardieri Scilla litardieri, AKA the Meadow Squill, is a very unusual scilla. It is often slightly taller and much, much more opulent than its other scilla cousins. It produces broad pyramidal, blossom spires populated with lavender-royal blue florets. It is native to south and western Yugoslavia and was introduced in 1827. Scilla litardieri is deer and critter resistant and is an excellent pollinator plant. The plants are hardy from Hardiness Zone 4-8. For a presence in the garden at least 25 bulbs should be planted. This narcissus is a good forcer - 8 bulbs in a 6-7 inch pot. HZ: 4-8 6"-8" Early Season

    CROCUS, Flavus Yellow Mammoth Crocus are members of the Iris family and are native to the Mediterranean and parts of Asia. They are among the oldest of the cultivated bulbs. The original crocus was a fall blooming type, Crocus sativus, grown for its saffron in Palestine during King Solomon’s time and used as an important commercial product by various ancient civilizations. Within the first few centuries of the new millennium, the Romans brought crocus to Britain, and by 1330, C.sativus was introduced into Essex via a commercial venture that made yellow dyes.
